Introduction and statement of the purpose of the Constitution A mission statement “We the People” – government based on social contract theory Main Goals To create a better nation To create a judicial system Promote peace among citizens Provide protection to citizens Promote good life for the many And make sure it lasts

Describe Article I. Deals with the Legislative branch States the powers & requirements of Congress Congress Senate 6 year term Must be at least 30 House of Representatives 2 year term Must be at least 25 Power to: Make laws Collect taxes & borrow money Regulate commerce with foreign nations Declare war To make laws “necessary and proper”
