MODAL VERBS FORM 1. Modal verbs are always followed by an infinitive without to. e.g. You should eat more fruit. You mustn’t smoke.

MODAL VERBS: FORM 2) Modal Verbs don’t add (-s) to the third person singular. e.g. Your brother should do some exercise. She must drink more water.

MODAL VERBS FORM 3) Modal verbs don’t need auxiliaries for negative, interrogative or short answers. e.g. Must I stop smoking?_ Yes, you must. Should I stop eating bread?_ No, you shouldn’t. You should eat wholemeal bread.

HAVE TO Have to is not a modal verb regarding its form: The third person singular takes (-s). e.g. She has to do more exercise. It is followed by infinitive with to. e.g. We have to sleep at least 8 hours a day. It needs auxiliaries for negative, interrogative and short answers. e.g. Do I have to stop eating cereal? _ No, you don’t.
