Minnesota FastTRAC Adult Career Pathway INDUSTRY- RECOGNIZED CREDENTIAL OCCUPATIONAL PREP READINESS CAREER AWARENESS INTEGRATED SUPPORT: RESOURCES THAT MAKE IT POSSIBLE FOR THE ADULT TO SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETE THE PROGRAM INTEGRATED BASIC EDUCATION AND SKILLS TRAINING

Integrated Support Systems Services include social supports needed to complete a program, including, but not limited to –basic needs –housing, –childcare –transportation –crisis intervention, –social service navigation, –work experience, etc., Comprehensive support services enhance planning and informed decision making and increase success in achieving both education and employment goals, including, but not limited to –Career advising –Work experience –Job placement and retention services These services provided throughout the pathway by Workforce Development, Employers, Community Based Organizations, Human Services, or other partners

Anoka County Health Care Pathway Jane was referred by her past Minnesota Family Investment Program (TANF) counselor to the Health Care Pathways Program. 100 hours of Adult Basic Education (ABE) training which includes medical terminology, computer skills, and writing research papers to prepare them for the technical training. 8 college credits focused in Nursing Assistant and Holistic Healing through Anoka Technical and Anoka Ramsey Community Colleges. job search workshops, employer connections and a counselor to support students from the WorkForce Center.

Module 1: Understanding Partner Systems & Your Role The first step in understanding your role is to first make sure you understand the partner systems involved in your Minnesota FastTRAC partnership. In this module you will learn some basic information about the types of organizations that are invited to participate in MN FastTRAC partnerships. Module 2: The Role of the Navigator This module will introduce you to the basic functions and tasks required for participant success and help you understand how to organize the work. At the end of the module you will be asked to create a job description outlining your work and start organizing the resources that you will use to support participants. Module 3: Enrolling & Motivating Participants Getting off to a strong starts with your participants will provide a foundation for your future support. This learning resource will present some tips for getting started with setting expectations, conducting an intake interview, and assessments that can help you anticipate future needs. Module 4: Navigating Educational Pathways Most of your participants will need help understanding administrative processes, policies, and deadlines required by your partnering college. It is important to have a basic understanding of admission, enrollment, and assessment processes required by your college. This module will help you identify the type of information you will need to acquire. Module 5: Creating Access to Success for Participants One challenge of being a navigator is building trust with your participants so that they will come to you if they face a barrier to their academic success. Early, proactive meetings can build trust and demonstrate to participants that you can find resources. In this module you will be presented with some tools to help you organize this proactive outreach. Module 6: Navigating Work and Career Development Supporting your participants with job search, building employability skills, and networking are just a few of the services you can provide your participants while they are working with you. This module will provide you with guidance completing these tasks. Best Practices for Navigators Online Professional Learning Community
