Period 1 :Warming up Wildlife Protection

Let’s guess Do you know what it is? It’s a huge beast(动物)famous for its orange fur with black stripes(条纹)all over its body. It belongs to the cat family and lives in forests. It’s called “King of all beast”. Do you know what it is?

Now the “King” is in trouble, do you know what the problem is? It is endangered. Do you know any other endangered species?

Read the report on page25 and answer the following questions. Which animal has been most successfully protected? Which animal needs the most protection now? Milu deer. Because their number rose from none to more than 2,500. South China tiger. Because it is still seriously endangered.

3. Which animal is the luckiest of the three? 4. Why are the reserves(保护区) being used to protect the bamboo rather than the pandas? Milu deer. Because it had died out in China but the species was preserved(保留) in the UK. Because pandas live on a special kind of bamboo and without it they will die out.

Who is the most dangerous enemy of animals? Human beings.

People kill animals for their fur, which can be made into beautiful and expensive fur coat.

People killed the endangered animals simply to satisfy their desire to eat.

People didn’t protect the nature. They destroyed it wildly.

Reasons for endangering Many animals have been being killed for food ,for fur or for making medicine. The places where animals used to live have been destroyed.They can not find enough food and live alive here. Sometimes the weather has changed and the animals can’t adapt themselves to the new environment.

What relationship between people and wildlife should be What relationship between people and wildlife should be ? Why should we protect wildlife? Wildlife is we human beings’ friends. They can keep the balance(平衡) of nature and make the whole world colourful. To protect wildlife is to protect ourselves.

Discussion More and more animals are killed by humans , as a student what should you do to protect the wild animals? Discuss the question in groups.

What should we do to protect the wildlife? Protect the environment. Help animals return to nature. Never kill endangered animals. Never buy endangered animals’ products and tell your friends not to do so too!

Summary Today we’ve got to know some endangered animals and realize that the most dangerous enemy of endangered animals is human beings. During the past few years we have taken some effective measures to save them, which brought in good result. We should remember that it’s important and urgent to protect wildlife, because to protect wildlife is to protect ourselves.
