Essay

Congratulations! You just won $10,000,000! What are you going to do with all your money? Create a list of all the things you want to spend your money on. (at least 20 things!)

Example Pay off student loans start a restaurant Go to Culinary School Pay off house loan Send kids to private schools buy a vacation home Buy clothes/shoes GO to New York City Flip houses Buy computer Donate money to build a youth center in Mt. Gilead Go to paris buy a boat take classes on different stuff Give money to family build a new house Buy a jeep save money for children Pay off other cars Buy a game system

Take your list of 20 items and put them into categories. Bills vacations House loan Student loans Cars loans Build new house Children’s education Buy a jeep Go to new York Go to paris Vacation home buy a boat

Investments/donations Future plans Investments/donations Flip houses Start a restaurant Go to culinary school Take classes on different activities Give money to family Save money for children Build youth center in MG

Create a Thesis Statement Your thesis statement should include: ALL of your categories (not your individual items) Your thesis statement is a single sentence that explicitly tells your reader what your essay will accomplish. Sample Thesis statement: From the winnings I earned in the lottery, I will spend my 10 million dollars on bills, vacations, entertainment and investments/donations.

Body Paragraphs Should start with the topic sentence. Everything in your paragraph has to be under the category that’s in the topic sentence. Should include everything that is on your graphic organizer. Be creative in your sentences. Stick to the topic!!

NOT An example… First I would pay off bills. I would pay off the house loan. I would pay off my car loans. I would build a new house. I would pay for my children’s education.

Example The first way I would spend money would be to pay off all my bills. I hate having bills. They are a burden. I wish to have a life free of bills but I have so many hanging over my head. I would pay off my student loans so if I wanted to go back to school, I could debt free. I would pay off my current house loan and then demolish it and build a brand new house. I would pay off all our car loans and keep those cars. I would go right out and buy a four-door rag top jeep, fully loaded. I would then pick a school for my children to go to and pay all their tuition up front so I would never have to worry about it in the future.
