It Is Finished ! In John 19:30 Jesus claims “it is finished”. In Koine Greek this is one word, Tetelestai, which means that a debt is paid in full.

What’s The Answer? - The saying must not mean to ever open your mouth. Separating your lips? Letting air in? Water? Food? - It is a Hebrew idiom. Found in the O.T and N.T. Refers more to the length, freedom or kind of speech.

What’s The Answer? Acts chapter 8, the eunuch and Phillip. “Then Phillip opened his mouth.” Phillip was talking before this statement.8:30. Then he began to speak in length preaching Christ. Same with Peter and Cornelius. Acts 10:25-29.

What’s The Answer? The thought behind this is that Jesus was not going to speak freely or unreservedly. He did not give a strong defense or rebuke. Jesus did not call “ten thousand angels” to come down from heaven. Jesus chose to humbly restrain Himself and be hung on the cross.
