Slide 39 © Lane Closure Taper If drivers’ sight is restricted (e.g., a sharp vertical or horizontal curve), taper should begin well in advance of the sight restriction. The beginning of a taper should not be hidden downstream of curves. Generally, tapers with no TCPs should be lengthened, not shortened, to increase their effectiveness.
