Religions of the World Project Criteria Assessed: A= Knowledge and Understanding B = Investigating D= Communicating You need to produce: A PowerPoint Presentation that you will present to the class A booklet about your religion

Time-scale This week: Class 1: Introduction to the project Week starting: x class to work on Project 2B – present projects on A - present your projects of

How it will be assessed You are going to work in groups of 2: Booklet and PowerPoint You will assign different tasks and parts of the project to each member of the group. This must be recorded and each member of the group will be assessed using the parts they produce. You must make an action plan what each member will do and when You will be assessed seperately for your presentation skills

Your project must include: – An Action Plan that explains: - who will produce each part of the assessment - when each part will be completed - where you will find information for each part (just the name of the website) – Origin and chronology. Presented in a timeline format. – Distribution of faith around the world. – Symbols – Ceremonies, rituals and pilgrimages – Interview with a representative of your religious community. This could be created by you sing information you have found, if you cannot contact a member of the ommunity – Link to video or film related Remmeber your presentation must not be more than 10 minutes in total – Other issues to consider interesting. There will be some marks available for interesting ideas/information/ways of presenting facts

Criteria A 7-8The student:  Uses a wide range of terminology accurately and appropriately -Search for the special words that are used by your religion like, Communion in Christianity or Hajj in Islam  Demonstrates detailed knowledge and understanding of content and concepts through developed and accurate descriptions, explanations and examples - Answer all questions in detail using examples and images to help describe your work

Criteria B 7-8The student:  Formulates a clear and focused research question -Write down questions you want to investigate for each section of the project  Formulates and follows a detailed action plan to investigate a research question  Uses methods accurately to collect and record appropriate and varied information consistent with the research question - Complete the last column of the table using information from both internet and books and maybe videos, interviews etc.  Effectively addresses the research question - Check that the information you collect is sufficient to answer your questions Section of Booklet and Question Who will Investigate it When they will investigate it Where they will find the information The Information I found Origin and Chronology How did the religion start? Criteria D 7-8 The student:  Communicates information and ideas by effectively using a style that is consistently appropriate to the audience and purpose. -Your booklet must use good English -Your booklet needs to use a combination of pictures diagrams and texts -Pictures and diagrams must be described and explained in the text of the booklet -Your PowerPoint must be easy to read (no more than 30 words per slide) -Your PowerPoint should contain images and diagrams that help explain your ideas (not just to make the powerpoint look pretty!) -Your presentation should be made without notes and without reading from The PowerPoint (you need to learn your information!!)  Structures information and ideas in a way that is consistently appropriate to the specified format -Your booklet must be structured logically -Your PowerPoint must be easy to understand  Consistently documents sources of information using a recognized convention.
