Organise yourself! Share your hints and Tips

Idea for the meeting To a have discussion about organising yourself. Share your struggles, any hints and tips Most importantly the success you had with being organised. I am not a professional or expert in being organised, I am a dyslexic that has struggled with it but over many years of study and work have learnt ways to be organised but am still learning, and hoping to leave here tonight with a tip from you all!

Lets flipchart when you struggle to be organised At work At Home When studying

Lets flipchart what you found that helps you to be organised

Some of my suggestions Make time to plan getting organised, make notes, mind map things by hand or with software- On Sunday I plan for the next week. If you are a visual person it’s good to use a paper diary and always good to write In pencil so it can be rubbed out if things change. White board is also good for visual people Colour is, so use Felt tips, Highlighters, Post-its Can use calendar on phone and s and the reminders on these Can download monthly calendar sheet from internet for free (wincalendar)

Some more of my suggestions Things to do note pads are great Use a Pinboard to store things you need to do. Plastic wallets for keeping receipts Always clearly label what things are Use colour plastic sleeves to store stuff Keep Business cards in a plastic wallet Use Card index boxes

Try new things It takes courage to try a new way of working but face that fear and give it a go. Could try a new system while still using the old system. Not all things will work but it’s about trying different ones until you find the one for you. Factor in extra time for trying new things as you get out what you put in.

Cost Organisation solutions shouldn’t cost much. Look in places like Wilkinsons for files, highlighters, colour pens etc.. Technology gadgets and software will cost more, so software you may be able to get a free trial on.

Steps to get organised Identify the problem List solutions Give that solution a try If that solutions doesn’t work, try another Make sure you make time to get organised It shouldn’t cost the earth
