Types of Therapy  Physical Therapist- helps provide services to help restore function, improve mobility, relieve pain, and help prevent or limit permanent physical disabilities of patients.  Occupational Therapist- helps patients improve their ability to perform tasks in the living and working environment. They work with individuals who suffer from a mentally, physically, developmentally, or emotionally disabling condition.  Speech Therapist- helps patients with disorders in speaking, language, cognition, voice, and swallowing.

Manager of Physical Therapy: Jeremy Lippold  Jeremy’s job is to supervise all of his therapists and make sure that they were doing exactly what they were supposed to do  Set up all the appointments  Monitored patients

Therapists  Nick Greer, also a physical therapist. During the time that we were there he had three patients (about one patient an hour).  Terri Martin, she had a degree in Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy

Job Requirements  He was required to manage and organize all appointments of therapists and patients, constructs therapy to most recent patients, and supervise everything that went on in the gym.  Jeremy also gave rewards, in our case, cookies to patients who were graduating from rehabilitation.

Background Information  Jeremy Lippold graduated with a very small class out of Parsons High School in Parsons, Kansas. Later, he went to Kansas State where he set out for his degree in therapy, including, physical, occupational, and speech. He also went back to school in order to become a Physical Therapist Manager.

Miscellaneous  Benefits: Include paid holidays and vacations, health insurance, and retirement plans. Self employed therapist have to provide their own benefits.  Working Conditions: Usually work in clean, spacious, and pleasant areas. They need to be able to be positive and encouraging for patients who need it. Also, they should be able to work well with their hands.  Clothing: They where mostly comfortable clothing, that looks professional at the same time. Jeremy wore a polo with slacks, some of the women wore scrubs, and a few other men wore them too. Also, all of them wore tennis shoes. Open toe shoes are not allowed.

The Rehabilitation Gym Patient Chart : This chart has each patient’s name and the type of activities they are to complete during each session of therapy. The Manager’s Office : (Jeremy’s Office) This is where each appointment is set up and supervision upon each therapist takes place.

Gym Equipment  This equipment is used to help patients that have suffered from strokes, car accidents, knee surgeries, hip replacement surgeries ect.

Meeting the Patients  Brittney and I met with a couple of patients that had just come out of knee and hip replacement surgery. We had cookies and met in this room to discuss the surgeries they had and why.

Miscellaneous Photographs  These are a couple of other pictures from the gym. In order to help the patients loosen up and try and have a little fun they use small basketball goals to help each patient with stretching. Also sanitation is a very big factor in the rehabilitation center anyone who entered the gym (other than patients) had to wash their hands.
