Description of the class Target learners: Taiwanese children in grade 1 to 6 in an intensive EFL program. They have been learning English for 7 months or more. Location: in a private English institution or public elementary school with a computer lab. The lab has at least 6 computers, a projector, a printer, and internet connections. Class time: 3 hours a day. The class time can be variable according to learners’ level or class time. One day lesson can be extended to 2 days or longer. Teacher can also adopt only part of the lesson to the class according to their needs. Class size: maximum 14 students.
Description of the class Lesson introduction: The lessons intend to provide teachers with ideas about how to adopt technology into their classroom and how to enhance teaching and students’ English learning through computer. All of the activities can be done with the help of the computer. The lesson should best be conducted with computer access for every student or every two students. However, many of the website resources are printable, teacher can preprint the materials as a back up activity. Also, if the classrooms don’t have such facility, the teacher can print out the materials before class as teaching resources.
Description of the class Lesson objectives: The lessons are designed to suit multiple intelligences learning through the content-based approach. Children, the technology generation, can learn English through storytelling, songs, games, art, etc. By the end of the course, students will be able to increase their English vocabulary, grammar, speaking, listening, and writing skills and enhance their culture awareness of English speaking country. They will feel that learning English is not stressful but fun through computer assisted learning.
Potential Problem Problem: Children may lack of computer and English literacy to do work individually. Solution: 1.Teachers use the projector to demonstrate the operation procedure and lesson first. Then have the students follow the computer operation step by step until they successfully enter the activity. 2. Preset each computer screen for the activities before the class starts. Then, check the Internet connection before class and preprint the materials as a back up if necessary. 3. Many activities can be done as a group with teacher together such storytelling and sing alone, teachers may use the projector to tell the story, sing the songs with students and read and explain the articles on the computers.
Day1: Getting to know the animals 1. Warm Up : Show the picture and tell students that this week they are going to learn about animals with Billy Bear. 2.Vocabulary: Point and Say Use the Animal Alphabet Flash cards to teach the vocabulary. Say the animals with children. At the same time, try to elicit the vocabulary from students.( teach about 15~20 vocabulary or less ) 3. Yes/ No Activity: Is it a/an_______? The teacher points to the flashcard and say “Is it a/an______? “ Students has to answer: Yes, it is a/an ______.or No, it is not. It is a/an______. 4.Game: Take a picture with animals: Ask each student to take a picture with animals and learn more about them.

Teachers can also add some body movements or gestures to the songs. 6. Storytelling and Coloring ( culture) : Noah and the Ark Bible Coloring Pages Print out the pictures and tell the story. First, Teachers may preteach the vocabulary. Next, read the story to the students.Then, tell students that next class we are going to learn more animals in Noah’s Ark. After the storytelling, give students the handouts to color. Extension: Have a role play or ask questions about the story.
Day 2: Getting to know the animals 1.Vocabulary and Review: Use the flashcard to review and learn more about vocabulary. ( teach about 15~20 vocabulary or less ) 2. Ask and Answer Activity: What is it? It is a/an ________. The teacher points to the flashcard and ask students “What is it ?”. Students have to answer “ It is a/an ______.”Teachers can use this activity to have a team competition. 3. Guessing Game and Coloring: Preprint the coloring pages. Use animal facts in the bottom of the coloring page to have students guess what animals it is. The students who have the correct answers can get the coloring page.

( teach about 15~20 vocabulary or less ) 2.Vocabulary memory game: Animal Concentration Use the game to test students’ memory and enhance their vocabulary. 3. Storytelling:Alphabet Zoo Download the story and tell the story to students. Extension: Have a role play or ask questions about the story. 4. Listening: enjoying the zoo: Have students do the listening activity and exercise on the computer.

Writing: write a post card. Have the students write a postcard to their friend online. 7. Art: Make a bookmark Have students choose an animal they like and make a bookmark.
Day 4: Easter Bunny ( Culture class ) 1. Storytelling:Online Easter Story Download the story and tell the story to students. Extension: Have a role play or ask questions about the story. 2. Story and game: The interactive Easter Story Guide students to do the interactive Easter story. 3. Art : Online Easter Colorbook Have students use computer to color their Easter colorbook online.
Day 4: Easter Bunny ( Culture class ) 5. Writing: write an Easter postcard or greeting card. Have the students write a postcard to their friend online. 6. Song: In the cabin in the woods. Teachers sing the songs with students as music play. Teachers can also add some body movements or gestures to the songs. 7. Craft: Make an Easter Bunny Basket(optional ) Use the website instructions to teach students to make their own Easter Bunny Basket.
Day 5: Animals’ habitat 1.Vocabulary and Review: Use the flashcard to review and learn more about vocabulary. 2. Vocabulary Exercise: Unscramble the words Have the students do the exercise and check the answers with the students. 3. Activity: Matching animal quiz Teachers do the activity with students. Day 5: Animals’ habitat 5. Storytelling:The Everglades Download the story and tell the story to students. Extension: Have a role play or ask questions about the story. 6. Drawing lesson:what is it ? 2. How to draw animals? Teachers use the first activity to have students guess what animal it is.Then, have students choose a drawing lesson and learn how to draw. Finally, have the students draw by themselves.
