The Michelin Star is an award given to the best restaurants in the world. Food critics visit restaurants in secret to try the food and award 0 – 3 stars. Depending on whether you train on the job or study at college or university, it could take between 5 and 10 years to become a chef. A chef could find work anywhere in the UK and in every area of the industry, such as hotels, restaurants, in education, the NHS and the Armed Forces.
