Mean, Median, Mode, & Range Who’s teaching this lesson any way? Sierra

Mean The mean of a set of data is the math average. To find the mean, add all the data values together and divide by the number of values.

Problem: We want to know the mean or average of 3 practice spelling tests with the following scores

Mode The mode is the data value that appears the most in the set. Because no value may appear more than once, it is possible for a set to have no mode. It is also possible for a set to contain more than one mode.

D____’s dog Dinkey weighs 14 pounds

This is N___’s dog Rickie. He is a mix terrier type breed. He weighs about 8 pounds. N___ plays with him a lot.

J______’s dog Lily weighing in at 10 pounds.

Mrs. Johnson’s dogs Patches 40 lbs, Restless 10 lbs, & Sally 10 lbs

Problem: Mode (weight that occurs the most) of dogs per interview.

Problem: mode weight of dogs 40, 10, 10, 8, 10 Put in order least to greatest 8, 10, 10, 10, 40,

Median The median is the middle value after the data has been arranged in either (smallest to largest) OR (largest to smallest). If the set of data contains an even number of values, then the median is the average (the mean) of the two middle values.

Problem :Median age of 3 students First we ordered the data from least to greatest 10, 11, 12

Problem: median age of 3 students in the classroom We ordered the data from least to greatest before finding the median 10, 11, 12

Range biggest number # – the smallest number # Example: 80, 90, – 80 = is our range

Now lets practice!!!!!
