1 Measures of Central Tendency & Range

2 Mean: The AVERAGE values of a set of numbers.
The mean is found by ADDING all of the values, then DIVIDING by the number of values in the set of data.

3 Mean = $3 Calculate the Mean: $2 $4 $1 $3 $6 2 + 4 + 4 + 1 + 3 + 2 +
6 = 30 10 Mean = $3

4 Median: The MIDDLE number in an ORDERED set of data, either from LEAST to GREATEST OR from GREATEST to LEAST.

5 1, 2, 2, 2, 2, 3, 4, 4, 4, 6 2 + 3 5 = = 2.5 2 2 Calculate the Median:
$2 $4 $1 $3 $6 1, 2, 2, 2, 2, 3, 4, 4, 4, 6 2 + 3 5 = = 2.5 2 2

6 Mode: The number that occurs most OFTEN.
There may be NO mode, ONE mode, or MORE than one mode for a set of data.

7 Calculate the Mode: $2 $4 $1 $3 $6 Mode = 2

8 Range: The DIFFERENCE between the LARGEST and the SMALLEST number in the set of data.

9 Calculate the Range: $2 $4 $1 $3 $6 6 - 1 = 5
