Present yourself to the Lord (παριστημι) … they brought Him up to Jerusalem to present (παριστημι paristēmi) Him to the Lord (Luke 2:22) Jesus’ story parallels the Christian life: He is our example He was under Law, we are under Grace Do we continue in sin since we live under grace? Romans 6 May it never be, because we have a perfect position in Christ, Rom 6:3-11; Col 2:10-14 Do not let sin reign, and stop “presenting” yourself to sin. COMMANDS! (Romans 6:12-13) Instead “present” yourself to God, and your members as righteous, command! (Rom 6:13) Sin is not your master, you not under Law, but Grace (Romans 6:14) Therefore, present yourself to the Lord, Romans 12:1-2 A living sacrifice that is holy and perfect, as God expects Do not be conformed to the world Be transformed, and live a life that is in God’s perfect will, as He intended.

Why present yourself to the Lord? One day we will all be “presented” to Him For we will all παριστημι before the judgment seat of God (Romans 14:10-12) For we must all “appear” before the judgment seat of Christ (2 Cor 5:10) Appear = φανεροω, be physically present, like Jesus in His resurrection body The goal of the Christian life is to stand before Christ as pure (Eph 5:27) The Judgment Seat is a time of reward 2 Corinthians 5:9-10; 1 Corinthians 3:14; 2 Timothy 4:6-8 When is “that day?” Revelation 22:12-13
