Exam Details IMS 5043 IT in Organisations

Location Check the web Make sure you know WHERE the exam will be held HOW to get there WHEN it starts Do NOT rely on friends to tell you! This is your responsibility – These details are NOT given to staff!!!

Time 3 hours + 10 mins reading But we expect you should be able to finish in 2 hours! Closed book exam You are NOT permitted to take anything into the exam Includes dictionaries, etc.

Type of Question Based on Tektronix Case Study (provided) Available electronically via voyager New, Clean copy will be provided in the exam room Followed by 8 short-ish questions Roughly half Judy/Joze’s material, half on Andrew’s NOT ALL OF EQUAL MARKS (see next slide) Please be succinct Bullet points (fulsome ones!) are OK NO CHOICE Please attempt all questions!

8 Questions Ques 1 (a and b) 5 marks Ques 2 (a and b) 5 marks Ques 3 5 marks Ques 4 10 marks Ques 5 5 marks Ques 6 10 marks Ques 7 5 marks Ques 8 5 marks Total marks for exam= 50 Total of 50 marks

Type of Response Marks will be deducted if your response is a direct copy of the lecture notes! Please think about the case, and tailor your response Think, before you do anything! More than 1 “correct” answer may be possible – you will be rewarded for sensible responses that show an understanding of the material covered in this course and its application to this case You don’t need to write a book!

Time Management PLEASE manage your time effectively Use marks allocated to guide you as to how much time is available Avoid thinking you must write down EVERYTHING you know about a particular topic You almost inevitably will leave yourself short of time for other questions Plan your answers to “maximise return on investment” What’s the question asking you? Just do that, not write everything you know!

Preparation Understand the concepts covered in class & small group discussions Knowledge of specific cases covered in tutorials is NOT required, but knowledge and understanding of concepts covered is examinable. Read as widely as you can Be equipped to examine a “problem” from a number of different perspectives Avoid sounding trivial and/or silly! Avoid silly statements like “Everyone knows that IT benefits the business…” These sorts of statements make me believe that you do not understand the issues!

Remember You MUST pass the exam (>50%) in order to pass this unit overall

Sorry, but… The lecturers and tutors are NOT answering s asking about exam details and we are NOT answering s asking how you should study
