Studying in Europe LLP / Erasmus Programme 2008/2009 B.A. International - opportunities for non-language students to study abroad Tuesday, 12 th February, 2008

Studying in Europe Erasmus Programme Students must be citizens of one of the EU Member states (+ Norway, Iceland, Turkey, Liechtenstein) Non-Irish citizens will not normally be nominated to study in their birth country. Students in 1st year of their study programme are not eligible to participate.

Studying in Europe Erasmus Programme Period of study must not be less than 3 months or more than one academic year. Students are not required to pay tuition fees to the Host University – however, they are required to pay normal fees to their own home university. You remain registered as an NUI Galway student while studying abroad.

Studying in Europe Erasmus Programme In the College of Arts, students go abroad after having successfully completed second year, and they transfer from the 3- year BA programme to the 4-year BA International Programme. You must pass sufficient courses while abroad to give you a minimum of 40 ECTS credits.

Studying in Europe Erasmus Programme In this way, your work abroad is recognised as an integral part of your BA International Degree. After spending their year abroad, students return to complete their fourth and final year in NUI Galway.

Destinations The College of Arts and its Disciplines are linked with a number of partner Universities in Europe that offer courses through English. Most partner universities offer courses through English in specific subject areas only. There is a limited number of places at each university.

The Application Process Carry out some research on the destinations available by consulting the different universities’ websites, or by contacting your department and/or the International Affairs Office. 25 th February.Complete the Application Form by 25 th February. The College of Arts and the International Affairs Office make an offer of places by mid-March. If you accept the offer you will be officially nominated to the relevant Host University as an Erasmus student for 2008/2009. You will need to follow the application procedure for the host university. NUIG International Office will advise.
