Within a cooperation agreement: no tuition fee – no application fee contact is already made you do not have to compete with students from the whole world International Office will provide you with procedures for applying and support you through the whole process you automatically apply for funding via International Office Study Abroad

3 AAU Agreements Agreements within:  Erasmus+ (European Programme)  Nordplus (Scandinavian Programme):Nordlys, Nordtek, Norek, Nordplus Law, Nordplus Psychology  Bilateral (Agreements outside Europe)

5 Online Application – Study Abroad and AAU-grant  You can apply for an exchange place through this link:  http://exchangeapplications.aau.dk http://exchangeapplications.aau.dk  Read the guidance carefully before you apply for a university  When applying for a university you also apply for AAU-grant if you meet the deadlines  In order to get the grant you will have to apply for a study abroad by: 1 March for the autumn semester 1 November for the spring semester  You can apply for a study abroad after these deadlines without a grant

6 Online Choice of University Application Status  Wish (You have chosen a university) confirmation email  Approved (Yours choice has been approved by IO) confirmation email  Nominate (IO will nominate you to study at the university of your choice)copy of nomination email will be sent to your emailaddress  Procedures forwarded (IO or the foreign university has sent application procedures to you)  Accepted (You have received acceptance letter etc. from the foreing university)  Rejected (Your choice of university has been rejected by IO – you can apply for another university)  Cancelled (Your choise of university has been cancelled and you are not going to study abroad)

7 Choice of Study Programme Abroad  Choose the courses which can give you a credit transfer  Choose courses in cooperation with your supervisor  Choose 30 ECTS credits (Europe) or equivalent - 3-5 courses Credit transfer  When your choice of university has been approved by IO, then apply for pre- approved credit transfer from your Study Board  If possible, apply for more courses than you need.  Keep an eye on deadlines, if any  Final approval when returning home. Remember to hand in a copy of the transcript to your study secretary.  The grade will be registered on your transcript as pass/fail

8 Language Requirements If you have not already taken a test: TOEFL test (USA + Canada)  Place: Copenhagen (or e.g.Malmö or Flensburg)  Price approx. USD 260 www.toefl.org IELTS test (UK + Australia)  Place: Copenhagen, sometimes in Aarhus  Price approx. DKK 1,800 www.ielts.org

9 Practical Information Overseas and the Nordic Countries  AAU scholarship application (upload proof of credit transfer and acceptance letter)  Visa application (apply for visa as soon as you get the acceptance letter)  Insurance (take out an insurance policy before you leave)  Vaccinations (examin if this is necessary)  Accommodation: (Apply for accommodation at the same time as you apply for admission or after you have been admitted. It will appear from the information from the foreign university when you will have to apply.

10 Financial support – AAU grant Overseas and the Nordic Countries Students eligible for SU should forward pre-approved credit transfer to the SU Office at AAU. AAU grant deadlines – all programmes: 1 March for the autumn semester and 1 November for the spring semester Amount: 7-9,000 DKK – it differs from year to year. Remember to apply for the grant on time although you have no documentation to present. This can be forwarded. In order to meet the requirements: You are enrolled as a student at Aalborg University You can get a credit transfer for your study period abroad The duration of the stay is between 3 – 12 months The grant is not used for tuition fees Your study period does not take place in Denmark or in your home country Applicants who have completed at least two years of their study programme are given first priority. Study abroad through a exchange agreement Although you fulfil the above criteria you are not guaranteed any AAU-funding In addition apply for private funds
