Presentation transcript:

The Green Knowledge Network was formed in 2010 by the Bournemouth Chamber to provide a forum for members with a 'green' business to work together and support businesses that are keen to learn more about the various green technologies/services available. By providing a recognised and qualified group within the Chamber and working together through referrals and events, coupled with strengthened working relationships, The Green Knowledge Network provides a better solution for companies than operating as a single unit within the Chamber. The network also identified a lack of education and "knowledge" about how the technologies would benefit businesses across Dorset and found this was limiting the success of these emerging technology companies. By organising a number of events the network plans to showcase the opportunities for the business community to engage with the numerous green technologies that exist. This in turn gives added exposure to the members of the Green Knowledge Network. If you are a business that has a green product or service and wish to find out more about the Green Knowledge Network in Bournemouth then contact Jon Cullum on

Bournemouth Throws Businesses a Lifeline for Sustainable Strategies With the demands of running a business today, it may well be the last thing on the agenda to search for suppliers and organisations that can support a greener future for you and your staff. But as a business you will no doubt be aware that a sustainability strategy is going to increasingly become a necessity, whether from client or peer pressure - or from council and government legislation. That is where “The Green Knowledge Network “comes in, your one-stop access to dynamic businesses across Dorset all with solutions and advice to offer you and your company. A growing group of suppliers are available under one roof, once a month and this is your invitation to get in front of proven specialists with solutions from British made LED lighting, boiler and fuel savings, climate control, renewable energy products and cost-free finance models, utility savings, hospitality, office supplies, Green Deal advice, bio fuels and more. A specialist network of the Bournemouth Chamber of Trade & Commerce, the group is headed up by Jon Cullum ( Save Energy Group). "We are delighted at how the group has developed, and this proves businesses are all too aware it is those who get on board early who will benefit most. And the added benefit of becoming greener so often results in companies enjoying substantial cost savings and this is extremely rewarding for our members." The network is now followed by companies, groups, organisations, councils, schools, colleges, universities - all looking to enhance their awareness of the latest green technologies. Member, Lynda Sparks of Save Energy Group: "We urge businesses to join as we have plenty of advice to share, and we often host guest speakers from different industry sectors with the main topic of sustainable business practices."

Green Knowledge Network Becomes the Regions Strongest ‘Green’ Champion 2012 became the ‘greenest’ year ever for the Chamber with the substantial growth of their Green Knowledge Network. Far exceeding expectations, it is credit to the public sector, local businesses, sustainable representatives and organisations who understand that early education is vital to prepare for current and future legislation as carbon reduction policies continue to gather momentum. It has become a central hub for businesses tasked with advancing their sustainability programmes, with member businesses offering green advice on products, services, Training, funding and grants. Our President, Nigel Hedges is a keen supporter with suppliers across many sectors in hospitality, lighting, bio diesel, boiler/fuel controls, renewable energy, climate control, office supplies, energy usage reduction and recycling. We are delighted to welcome Bournemouth Borough Council, Poole Borough Council, Bournemouth & Poole College, Mouchel, Marriot Hotels, Business Solent and Charitable organisations who have joined us in The network attracted outstanding speakers, both from our region and beyond with presentations from Nick Read of Lush, Mike Rundle from UKTi, Operations Manager at Castlepoint Bill Riddle and Rob Mitchell of Green Goals. What’s new for 2013? Plenty – so watch this space for speakers, networking and exciting ‘green’ events and get on board to benefit your business and become greener. Meet the last Tuesday of every month at The Green House Hotel, Bournemouth. 5pm to 8pm.
