Career Pathways We have six Agricultural Career Pathways here at Chicago Ag Horticulture Science Animal Science Agricultural Mechanics Agricultural Finance Food Science Agricultural Education

Horticulture Science Mrs Briney is the teacher – This pathway covers the basic uses of plants and flowers, plant identification, soils and other growing media, greenhouse structures, landscaping and floral designing.

Animal Science Mrs Kendall-teacher – Covers the basics on animal management and care, animal systems, animal nutrition, behavior and reproduction

Agricultural Mechanics Mr Slee-teacher – Focuses on hands on skills and knowledge of work place skills and safety – The use of these skills in construction in the agriculture industry – The use of hand tools, power tools, basic use and repair of small engines – Basic car maintainence

Agricultural Finance Mr W Collins-teacher – Intro to ag economics – Will cover the connection between ag businesses and financial institutions – Takes a look at the US economy, the world market, and government programs

Food Science Mrs Dallain-teacher – Focuses on the science and safety of the food industry – Covers the processing of food from its beginning until it reaches the table and all of the steps between – Product development and perservation

Agriculture Education Miss Marion-teacher – The newest pathway – Will cover the basics in teaching – Will handle our Ag Tourism program

All Pathways All of the pathways focus on careers specific for their field All deal with current issues –local, national, global All provide students with life and work place skills All prepare students for a future after high school (college or work)
