NOAA COMMAND AND DATA ACQUISITION STATION

WCDAS Numbers  DCS Help Desk at or 7451 – 24 Hours/ 7 Days a Week  Al McMath at (757)  Travis Thornton

Wallops LRGS Configuration  No real changes to the LRGS  We continue to use version 7.0 as the standard  The cdadata server is considered the primary LRGS, ingesting data from the DCS demods & the cdabackup server.  The cdabackup server is considered the secondary LRGS, ingesting data from the DCS demods & the EDDN server.  The drot should be considered a troubleshooting tool to verify the DOMSAT downlink.  Accounts are built through NOAA and shared with USGS  Wallops LRGS interface with those at NSOF and EDDN to maintain a complete record.

Wallops LRGS Configuration  No real changes to the LRGS configuration since the last meeting  Sites and IPs:  ( )  ( )  ( )

LRIT Status  Files built and transmitted every 30 seconds  Wallops is working with NSOF to use the backup at Wallops during periods of outages.  The failover would be manual – not automatic  The DCS component of LRIT is transferred from Wallops to Suitland (via Internet) and then back to Wallops (via T-1).  1 meter antenna receives full LRIT stream  There are no re-occurring costs associated with LRIT reception.  Available throughout the hemisphere at no charge.

Current Spacecraft Constellation  GOES-13 is Prime East 75 deg West  GOES-11 is Prime West 135 deg West.  Only one functioning command receiver  Currently scheduled for replacement - Dec 2011  Scheduled replacement is G15  GOES-12 is Prime South 60 deg West  GOES-12 is scheduled for de-commissioning in Dec 2013  No decision on supporting South America after Dec 2013  GOES-14 is in 104 deg West  We are using the SXI instrument  GOES-15 is in 89.5 deg West

GOES West Scheduled Transition  Currently - GOES-15 is in 89.5 deg West  Oct - G15 begins westward drift from 89.5W to 135W  Rate is <1deg/day  Dec 6 – G15 nears 129 W  Sensor Data Link (SDL) transitions to GOES G15.  G15 Processed Data Relay (PDR) transmitted through G11  Ground PDR antennas don’t have to repoint  G15 continues to drift westward  Dec 14 – G15 drift stops at 135W.  All G11 service links transition to G15  Dec – G11decommision and de-orbit.

DAPS/DADDS  Demods upgraded to be CS2 Compatible.  No longer supports long inter-leaver messages.  DAMS-NT Interface updated for msec time resolution (V8)  Upgrade Task underway for CS1/CS2 Auto-detect.  Initial deployment of Test Channels.  NWSTG TCP/IP testing currently underway. The X.25 stream is expected to be terminated sometime within the next few weeks.

DAPS/DADDS  Pilot/DCPC receive antennas installation was pushed into new fiscal year  A second pilot remains active (channel 0) at the WBU. The frequency is 401.7MHz.

Test Channels  GOES East  300bps  195E for CS1 & CS2 ( MHz)  1200bps  A99 for CS1, 497 for CS2 ( MHz)  Incompatible with CS2-needs to move  100/300 bps Auto Detect  151E CS1 Only ( MHz)  GOES West  300bps  196W for CS1 & CS2 ( MHz)  1200bps  A100 for CS1, 499 for CS2 ( MHz)  100/300 bps Auto Detect  151E CS1 Only ( MHz)

DOMSAT “Old Business”  The 10 year contract with SES World Skies, formerly Americom Government Services (AGS), formerly GE Americom, formerly General Electric American Communications, Inc. expired 31 August  Total Cost of 10 year service was $650,  Includes $101,963 for 2008 NSOF Backup ($77,316 installation)

DOMSAT “New Business”  New DOMSAT Contract in place September 2011  Provides for a maximum of 16 months service  7 months funded Base Period  1 September 2011 – 31 March 2012  6 month Option Period  1 April 2012 – 30 September 2012  3 one month Option Periods  1 October 2012 – 31 December 2012 It is the expectation that the DCS DOMSAT service will be combined with a larger NOAA DOMSAT service contract, award date expect 5 September 2012

DOMSAT Service

 SES has proposed updating the Wallops ground system equipment, in Dec-Jan. – Replace 2.4m & 1.8m antenna equipment SES has also indicated that they will need to switch satellite transponder services. – Same satellite - SES 1 – Different Frequency – December-January

DOMSAT Link  DCS DOMSAT Circuit# 8819  Service moved from AMC 4 to SES 1 – 9 Jul 2010  Service again moved from transponder 6 to transponder 14 of satellite SES 1 – 1 Nov 2010  Current Satellite, SES-1  Located at 101deg West  Ku Transponder 14  MHz  Horizontal Polarizatio n
