What do I need in order to use TeamSpot? The TeamSpot A 42” monitor and computer with special software located in Moody Garden Lab. Always kept logged in as “TeamSpot-01,” password TeamSpot-01. Yes, it’s still considered a computer although no mouse and keyboard are included. Don’t worry, you won’t need them. A Laptop Any laptop will do. Even a Mac? Yes, TeamSpot supports every kind of PC. All that is required is Internet access. Don’t have a laptop? Check one out or use a desktop nearby. + + The TeamSpot Client Software And how do you get this software? I’m glad you asked. This is where you need Internet access. Next slide please.

How to Connect:  Get the software from the TeamSpot’s website: On your laptop, open a web browser to 01.baylor.edu. Click “Download TeamSpot Software.” 01.baylor.eduhttp://teamspot- 01.baylor.edu  Download the software: Click the orange Windows or Mac button to download the TeamSpot Client installer file.  Install and run the software: Run the installer you just downloaded. At the end, it starts the TeamSpot Client and displays the license agreement. Click “I accept…” and “Continue.” This client needs to only be installed once per machine. It will already be installed on the laptops we offer for checkout. Speaking of, anyone need something to do on Friday night? Yeah, I didn’t think so. You look like you’d have plans.

Now, this is where things differ between Macs and other PCs…  Personalize the settings: You should see the TeamSpot Control Panel now. Change the machine name to be something that uniquely identifies you, like SexyBunny, BabyDaddy, LonelyOnFridayNights, other nicknames, or your name. No spaces or punctuation allowed. Then click “New TeamSpot” to join the TeamSpot if this is your first time. Every other time, highlight “TeamSpot-01” and click “Join.” The Control Panel mentions TeamSpot’s features. We’ll get to those in a minute. You will notice this same Control Panel on the TeamSpot host but with server information. You want the buttons to be lit up green. Green is go. Green is good. There’s also yellow and red, but I think you can figure out what those mean.

Joining TeamSpot: Our TeamSpot is named TeamSpot-01 because if it is successful we may be getting more. These instructions are for joining TeamSpot for the first time. If you have joined before and It is listed in the drop down menu, you do not need to do these steps again.  Enter the TeamSpot’s URL again: Enter the URL: and click “OK.” This connects you to the TeamSpot.  Enter the authorization code: Magically, a box like this appears in the bottom right corner of the TeamSpot screen. Enter that code into your computer and click “OK.” This feature also alerts TeamSpot users if someone else is joining their session. Hey, someone may be really jealous of what you’re doing.

It provides control interfaces for many TeamSpot features including CrossWarp and screen sharing. It also shows you all the active users within the TeamSpot by clicking the “Participants” button. The Mini Panel is designed to float above the other windows on your desktop so that it is readily available but can minimize by double-clicking its title bar. In addition to showing who is connected to the TeamSpot at any time, the panel allows you to share files or websites with others using CrossWarp by “drag and drop.” The participants list has shortcuts for sending files to all active participants and for placing a copy of the file into the session archive. The panel also provides menus for sharing your screen with other users and annotating. The Mini Panel: It appears on every laptop and host on TeamSpot. That’s Mini Panel, not Mini Bar.

PointRight: So if there’s not a mouse on the host screen, how do you control it? PointRight makes it possible for multiple users to share control on the screen using the mouses from their laptops. Yes, mouses is the correct term for computers. Continue to point the laptop mouse up on the screen and it “jumps” onto the host screen. Continue to point the laptop mouse up on the screen and it “jumps” onto the host screen. There is only one mouse on the screen at any given time. The last one to touch the mouse has control. It is fun to mess with others on occasion. There is only one mouse on the screen at any given time. The last one to touch the mouse has control. It is fun to mess with others on occasion. CrossWarp: Sharing information is critical to collaboration. CrossWarp allows team members to instantly share files and links between other users and the TeamSpot host so that the group can work on a shared copy or distribute multiple copies of a final version. Drag a file, folder, or URL address and drop it on a name on the Mini Panel. Drag a file, folder, or URL address and drop it on a name on the Mini Panel. CrossPaste: CrossPaste makes it easy for groups to edit documents in real time and across separate computers by providing a universal copy and paste for everyone connected to the session. Copy text or images from one computer and immediately paste it to one or several other computers, even if they have different operating systems. Screen Sharing: Sometimes users need to work on their own laptop but still want to involve the team in what they’re doing. Perhaps they need to use an application that isn’t installed on the TeamSpot host or they are using too many files to easily CrossWarp. In these situations, users can show their own computer’s desktop with the team by “showing” or “sharing” it to the public screen. This is similar to plugging the public screen into their computer’s video-out plug, but without the cables. On the Mini Panel, right-click the name you would like to share your screen with and choose “Show” or “Share your screen.” On the Mini Panel, right-click the name you would like to share your screen with and choose “Show” or “Share your screen.” “Showing” your screen allows others to see your screen but does not give them any control over it. “Sharing” your screen allows others to work on your desktop. “Showing” your screen allows others to see your screen but does not give them any control over it. “Sharing” your screen allows others to work on your desktop. Session Archive: The session archive is a real-time record of all the information transferred between users in a session. Every time you transfer a file, folder, or URL between group members, it is noted in the archive. Users can also add comments directly into the archive.
