In APA Style

Art History: The Basics By Pooke, Grant; Newall, Diana. In: The basics. Taylor & Francis Routledge eBook. 286p. This is what the citation for a book looks like in the EBSCO eBook Collection. It needs some editing to change it into APA style.

Pooke, G. & Newall, D. The first piece of the citation is the names of the authors. No matter how many authors there may be, always write the last name first, followed by initials.

Pooke, G. & Newall, D. (2008). The second part is the year the book was published.

Pooke, G. & Newall, D. (2008). Art history: The basics. Next come the book’s title and subtitle, separated by a colon, in italics. The title and subtitle are taken from the title page of the book, not from the EBSCO citation. Note that only the first word and proper names are capitalized.

Pooke, G. & Newall, D. (2008). Art history: The basics. London: Routledge. Next comes the city where the book was published, and the name of the publisher. You find this information on the title page.

Pooke, G. & Newall, D. (2008). Art history: The basics. London: Routledge. Retrieved from At the end of the citation for an ebook, type a URL that indicates where it can be found online. In this case, the ebook is in one of the databases from EBSCO. When you log in to read it online, you’ll see that it has a very long URL. No need to copy that. Just give enough to show what company gives access. (If however, you are citing an ebook that is freely available online, give the full URL.)
