WHY CITE SOURCES? Avoid violating copyright laws Avoid plagiarizing So others can learn from your sources Show a range of information (credibility to your research) Show reliability and authenticity of sources Show respect and gratitude for the work of others

ENTER SOURCES Open up a Word Document Under the Document Tab click on Manage On Citation window, click on wheel Go to Citations Source Manager Click on New Select Type of Source

BOOKS Basic information needed: Author Title City the book was published in Publisher Year it was published

WEBSITE Basic Information needed: Author if available Title of the Web Page Title of the Web Site URL Year the website was updated or created Year, month and date you went to it

WORLD BOOK OR GROLIER ONLINE ENCYCLOPEDIA Use Web site for type of information Basic Information Needed: Author if available Name of the Web Page (within the Online Encyclopedia) Name of the Web Site (the name of the Online Encyclopedia) URL Producer of the Online Encyclopedia Year of the copyright Year, month and date you looked at it

CLIP ART OR PHOTOS Use Document from a website for type of information Basic information needed: Author-if available Name of Web Page Name of Web Site URL Copyright year Year, Month and Date you accessed it

INSERTING THE BIBLIOGRAPHY Open document Click at place to insert Go to Document Elements tab Click on Bibliography In window, click on Bibliography Separate sources with a return
