Slide 8 WSS Service Accounts Separate Service accounts for each application requirement is a best practice Windows Sharepoint Services Account: A domain account for access to the content database, central administration app pool. The WSS wizard will add it to all the appropriate SQL Server roles. Application Pool Security Account for Provisioning: A domain account used for running the application pool in IIS 6.0. Application Pool Security Account for extending Project Web Access: A domain account used for running an application pool. Site Collection Owner Account: This account has administrative rights over a WSS site collection. This account is required when prompted for a primary collection owner when creating a WSS site collection
Slide 9 WSS Service Accounts Shared Service Provider Administrator: A domain account that acts as a broker between SQL Server and WSS. Has database creator and security administrator permission on SQL Server. Project Server Administrator Account: Used for this Project Server 2007 instance. Sharepoint Search Service Account: Used to activate searching on all WSS Servers All accounts are setup under an Active Directory organizational unit.
