Our Solar System A Student

The Sun The sun formed 5 billon years ago. The sun is a star. It was made by a cloud of gas and dust. In ancient times people thought the sun was a god. The sun is 15,000,000 degrees F

Mercury Mercury is only 36 million miles away from the sun. It is covered with craters. On Mercury it can get 300F to 870 degrees F. Mercury is the second smallest plant.

Venus Venus and Earth are almost the same size. Venus is 67 million miles away from the sun. It is covered with craters, mountains, volcanoes, and lava plains. The highest temp on Venus is 900 degrees F. Venus rotates in the opposite way of all of the other plants.

Earth Earth is 93 million miles away from the sun. It has only 1 moon. The Earth is covered with lakes, rivers, oceans, mounta ins,and volcanoes. The hottest it ever got on Earth was 45 degrees F.

Earth’s Moon The moon is like a desert with plains. It’s a little lopsided because it’s crust is thicker on one side then the other. The pull of the moon can affect the tides of the Earth’s oceans. You have to go into space to see the other side of the moon.

Mars Mars is 142 million miles away from the sun. It has 2 potato shaped moons. Mars has canyons and volcanoes all over it. On Mars the hottest days can only be – 90 degrees F to –190 degrees F. Scientists say that Mares moons where once asteroids.

Jupiter.Jupiter is so big that all the other plants can fit in it..It's 483 million miles away from the sun..Jupiter as 17 moons in all..Also it has thin faint rings..On Jupiter it can only get –244 degrees F..One of Jupiter’s moons Mimas looks like the death star space ship from Star Wars..Jupiter is only 10 yards thick!

Saturn Saturn is 888 million miles away from the sun. It is rely cold on Saturn only –300 degrees F. The plant Saturn has 18 moons. Saturn has 1,000 very large rings.

Uranus Uranus is 1,784 million miles away from the sun. It has 20 moons. 11 narrow rings go around Uranus. On Uranus it can only get –350 degrees F. Uranus tilts so far on it's axis that it rotates on it's side.

Neptune In Neptune’s atmosphere it has winds which blow over 2,000 Kilometers per hour. Neptune’s 2,794 million miles away from the sun. It has 8 moons. 6 narrow rings go around Neptune. On Neptune it can only get- 370 degrees F.

Pluto Pluto is 3,647 million miles away from the sun. It has one moon named Charon. Some astronomers call Pluto and Charon a double planet. On Pluto you would see a lot of nitrogen and methane ice. The hottest it ever got on Pluto was –390.

A Student Hi. I am 10 Years old. I was born in October. When I came to Harbins I was in second grade. Now I’m in 4 th grade. Another thing I like is animals. One thing I like to do is play video games. In my house I have a lot of pets. One way to describe me is thin.
