Poster Title: - Posters from FMRC Created By: Dev Mondal, Stuart Alleyne, Kan Fang, Alsa Yalan-Murphy Introduction This poster is to serve as a simple example of how to make a poster in Power point. A large majority of the text in this document is simply for filling pace and keeping they layout structure. All text and formatting can be changed to better suit your needs. Again, this is only an example. Inserting images To insert imagery into your presentation go to “Insert” on the menu bar then select picture and from he sub menu select “from file”. Brows to the directory you have your image and click “ok”. Once your image is in you may then resize it to fit your document. To resize the image simply click and drag on any of the four CORNERS. It is important to do this from the corners to prevent the picture from being distorted (squished or flattened out). Both Jpg or tif files will work in a power point document. However a tif file holds more graphical information and will look better. If getting a tiff file proves to be too cumbersome then a jpg file will more than suffice. Backgrounds Function Adding a background to a poster will provide an Image for people to look at should they not be looking at the content of the poster. It also serves to fill in places of blank space. Cautions Care should be taken not to use backgrounds of dark solid colors as it would drain the ink of the person(s) printing your poster. Also be careful that you do not choose a back ground that will distract from your text. Images with excessive lines should be avoided. To change your background image: Office 2008 (mac) To change your background image click on “Format > Slide Background” select the image that you would like to use as a back ground. Office 2007(pc) Right click on the slide, and select “Format background” then choose “Picture or texture fill”. In the new dialog box you can either choose to use a textured background or use your own image by clicking “file” and navigating to the proper file. Office 2003 (pc) Right click on the slide and click on “background”. In the dialog box click on “fill effects” then the pictures tab. Finally, click on “Select Picture” and navigate to the file you want. Inserting power point slides into a poster This will follow the same method as inserting a picture. First you must export the slide as a tif or jpg. To do this go to file on the menu bar, select “save as”. Another window will show up and from the “format” drop down menu, Select either Jpg of Tif. Once the slide is exported, follow the same method for importing pictures. Click insert on the menu bar, then click “picture” and in the sub menu click “from file. Figure 1.
