The Butterfly Effect Irida Ahmeti

What is Origami? - Origami is the Japanese word for paper folding. ORI means to fold and KAMI means paper. Together, they form the word, "origami.“ -It is an art form that has been handed down from parent to child through many generations. -Origami involves the creation of paper forms usually entirely by folding. Animals, birds, fish, geometric shapes, puppets, toys and masks are among the models that even very young children can learn to make in just one sitting. - The art of making paper from pulp originated in China in the year 102A.D. Paper then became more available to the masses.

Butterflies The Japanese view butterflies as souls of the living and the dead. They are considered symbols of joy and longevity. The earliest reference that clearly supports paper folding in Japan is the short poem written in 1680 by Ihara Saikaku. This poem describes a dream that involves paper butterflies. The Butterfly is a symbol of change, joy and love, metamorphosis. Butterfly is a powerful symbol in myth and religion. For Early Christians, it represented the soul itself. In China it symbolized conjugal bliss and joy. American Indians call upon the butterfly for guidance in change, color, and happiness.
