A hurricane is a severe tropical storm that forms over warm ocean waters. Evaporation from sea water increases its power. They have winds of at least 75.

Strong Storms affect the Southeast Hurricane: a violent storm that forms over the ocean. It’s strong winds move in a circular path. Along with the winds, there are very heavy rains. Hurricanes can be strong enough to send large objects flying. One of the most damaging effects of a hurricane is flooding from the waves, rising currents, and rain. Hurricane season runs from June to November.

Lighthouses of the Southeast Long Ago…. Lighthouses were used by sailors to avoid rocky coastlines and to identify where they were by the lighthouses color pattern and it’s flashing lights. Now……. With new technologies, lighthouses are not used as much. GPS and sonar help people identify where they are. Cape Hatteras Light is a lighthouse located on Hatteras Island in the Outer Banks in the town of Buxton, North Carolina and is part of the Cape Hatteras National Seashore.lighthouseHatteras IslandOuter BanksBuxton, North CarolinaCape Hatteras National Seashore
