1 Corinthians 15:1-8 (NKJV) 1 Moreover, brethren, I declare to you the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received and in which you stand, 2 by which also you are saved, if you hold fast that word which I preached to you—unless you believed in vain. 3 For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4 and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures,

1 Corinthians 15:1-8 (NKJV) 5 and that He was seen by Cephas, then by the twelve. 6 After that He was seen by over five hundred brethren at once, of whom the greater part remain to the present, but some have fallen asleep. 7 After that He was seen by James, then by all the apostles. 8 Then last of all He was seen by me also, as by one born out of due time.

“Tell Me The Story of Jesus” DEATH BURIALRESURRECTION 1 Corinthians

“Tell Me The Story of Jesus” Has anybody come up to you recently, and with sincerity in their voice and tears in their eyes, asked you to?” “Tell them the story of Jesus” Probably not any time recently! Maybe never! WHY???? Are people just no longer interested in the Story of Jesus? And if so, WHY??????????

“Tell Me The Story of Jesus” Let’s just suppose for moment that tomorrow someone would ask that question of you – could you tell them the Story? I fear that sometime we tell them everything BUT the story of Jesus. * Maybe we are the problem. We no longer want to be bothered by people. Even worse – maybe we don’t know The Story.

IT WAS A RECEIVED TRUTH  Paul begins by telling us that these truths are not something he dreamed up. They are not from a mysterious vision like Joseph Smith had.  These truths did not "just come to Paul" like the author of the popular but non-Christian book "Conversations With God".  These truth came from the teaching of Jesus and from those who studied with Him. These truths are based on verifiable evidence. They are historical not imaginary.

IT WAS A RECEIVED TRUTH  Others like Luke gives an inspired account (Luke 1.1-4)  Peter also had something to say about this (2 Peter )  TRUTH has a hard time of it in today’s society.

CHRIST DIED FOR OUR SINS…according to the Scriptures  Jesus' death was a willing death.  Jesus' death was a purposeful death.  John 10.ll  Mark  Matthew 1.21  1 John 2.2  Each one of us has committed many sins.

HE WAS BURIED  This is significant because it means that Jesus died an actual death.  Jesus was gone. And as a result of this, the mindset of the disciples was one of depression (cf. Luke )  Have you ever been in that situation?

HE WAS RAISED on the Third Day  This is of course, the key event. Jesus came back from the dead!!  Paul takes great pains to show that everything hinges on the actual resurrection of Christ.  Paul affirms that this was a bodily, literal and physical resurrection.

IMPLICATIONS  What Jesus said about forgiveness is true.  There is life beyond the grave.  The way to life goes through Christ.  We must recognize that eternal judgment is also real.

Tell me the story of Jesus, Write on my heart every word; Tell me the story most precious, Sweetest that ever was heard.  Do YOU need to hear that story?  Do YOU need to obey that story? THEN COME WHILE WE STAND AND SING
