Choose a number between 1 – 9. Multiply by 2. Add 5. Multiply by 50. If you have had your birthday this year - add 1,765. If you have not had your birthday this year – add 1,764. Subtract the year you were born. You should have a 3- digit number. 1 st digit – original number. 2 nd /3 rd digits – your AGE.

PLC LEARNING OUTCOMES Aligning instruction with CCSS. Differentiating instruction during regular and specialty classes and tutorials. Developing a culture of high expectations. Scheduling extended instructional time. Utilizing hands-on manipulatives and games as academic resources. Developing common formative assessments in Professional Learning Communities. Individualizing instruction that progresses from whole group to guided practice to independent practice. Monitoring effective use of instructional time.

DATA QUESTIONS?!?! What do we want our students to learn? How will we know what they are learning? How will we respond when they don’t learn? How will we respond if they already know it?

NUMBER TALKS Standards Addressed: Number and Operations in Base 10 I can understand and explain the value of digits in a larger number. I can explain patterns of zeroes in an answer when multiplying a number by powers of 10.

DEAL ME IN…… Standards Addressed: Operations and Algebraic Thinking I can identify relationships between two number patterns. I can use the four operations (+, -, x, ÷) to help me solve problems

EXTRA, EXTRA …. READ ALL ABOUT IT!!!! Standards Addressed: Reading and Vocabulary I can use my own words to summarize informational texts I have read. I can read, understand and discuss informational texts I read. I can gather evidence from fiction or informational text to support my investigation, thinking and research.

“WHAT’S THE WORD?” Standards Addressed: Reading and Vocabulary I can use what I have learned about letters, sounds and words to help me read. I can read unfamiliar words that have more than one syllable. I can use context clues to help me figure out or correct words I am having trouble with.

“FIGURE IT OUT”…. I can use what I know about the four operations to solve real world problems. I can solve word problems by using drawings or writing equations and solving for a missing number.
