Our BIG question…. What kind of economic activities developed in Egypt?

Let’s define economic/economy Economy: producing, consuming and distributing wealth.

Trade, Trade & More Trade! Made Reed boats with sails and oars. The Nile became their highway!

The river had a STRONG current, so they needed to use oars and sails to push faster when going against the current!

Fishing/Hunting The Egyptians went on fishing/hunting trips along the Nile for food. They hunted quail, crocodiles and hippo’s with boomerangs and nets.

The Nile was SO great that they often had Surpluses! So…(as we know…) they began to trade with people.

The Egyptian traders took goods up and down the river, which took about 30 days! The Egyptians brought papyrus, wheat, barley, and bolts of linen cloth in exchange for exotic products such as ivory, gold, ostrich feathers, giraffe’s tails etc.

They still had NO money  so they had to Barter or exchange goods for other goods, THEY STILL HAD NO MONEY!
