 Mercury  Venus  Earth  Mars  Jupiter  Saturn  Uranus  Neptune

The planets teach us about what is on them. It taught us about how different they are.

Mercury Tiny amounts of sodium have been discovered hovering above the surface of Mercury. Mercury is really tiny, about 18 Mercurys would fit inside Earth. But it is denser than any other planet except Earth. Mercury is also the nearest planet to the Sun. This image of Mercury is red, has white things that look like veins.

Venus Venus is the planet of beauty and love. It is also the second nearest planet to the Sun. Venus is the hottest planet in our solar system and has a very thick atmosphere.

Earth Earth is the only planet that has life and water on it. Earth is the crown jewel of the solar system. It is also the biggest planet for the inner planets. Earths nickname is the blue planet. Earth is a lovely planet. It only has 1 moon.

Mars Mars is the planet of war. Mars has sand dunes and polar ice caps. Mars is also know as the “Red Planet” for its color. Although Mars is smaller than Earth, it still has the same land surface.

Jupiter Jupiter is the biggest planet in the whole solar system. Jupiter is the fourth brightest planet. Jupiter is an outer planet. Jupiter is also made out of gas, not solid surface like the inner planets.

Saturn Saturn is the second largest planet. It is famous for its rings and also made out of gas like the other outer planets. Saturn is the least dense of all planets in our solar system.

Uranus Unlike most planets, Uranus rotates vertically instead of horizontally. Uranus is composed of ice and rocks.

Neptune Neptune is the planet of sea. But for a few years, Neptune is the farthest planet from the Sun because Pluto’s orbit is so eccentric. Neptune’s composition is similar to Uranus’s with ice and rocks.
