Stay Free Don’t get tied up. Never turn your back to the puck. Stay free and anticipate the moment when to get leverage on your opponent. 5

Use the Web Take an inside position and funnel your opponent into the web.

Stay out of the Revolving Door Regap instead of following your opponent out of the revolving door. They will get out first!

Collect Data Head on a swivel with out the puck. Look over your shoulder when picking up a loose puck. Look over the net when “wheeling” with the puck (skating with it from one side to the other behind the net).

Communicate and move your feet to be an outlet for your partner. Weakside D start off the far goal post. Be an outlet

Giving up too much gap on your opponent’s rush will also give up the middle of the ice. Maintain a tight gap to reduce their time and space. Use the web. Make contact before the tops of the circles. Keeping your stick close to your body baits the forward into thinking they have more gap then they really do. Win the Battle of the Gap
