B757 Review Questions

Flight Controls What would cause a spoiler light to illuminate on the overhead panel? One or more spoilers not in the commanded position.

Flight Controls What two conditions are required for yaw damper operation? At least one IRU aligned, and left and center hydraulic pressure.

Flight Controls With multiple autopilots engaged what happens if you trim with the electric trim on the control column? Alternate trim switches? Control column nothing. Alternate switches would yield a UNSCHD STAB TRIM light.

What would it mean if the STAB TRIM ligt illuminated? Flight Controls What would it mean if the STAB TRIM ligt illuminated? At least one of the two stabilizer brakes failed to release during trimming with the electric switches. One brake fails, it trims at half the normal rate.

Which hydraulic system powers the Rudder Ratio system? Flight Controls Which hydraulic system powers the Rudder Ratio system? Left hydraulic system

Flight Controls When using the alternate flap system to extend the flaps, will the flaps auto deploy if a stall occurs with the leading edge devices in TO position? No.

With the speed brakes not armed, what will cause them to auto deploy? Flight Controls With the speed brakes not armed, what will cause them to auto deploy? Hydraulic pressure to both landing gear truck tilt actuators, both truck sensors detect no tilt, both thrust levers idle, and either thrust reverser lever is raised to the interlock stop.

Flight Controls When do the slats move to their landing position? Whenever the flap lever is moved to the 25 or 30 position.

Flight Controls Is there asymmetry protection when using the alternate flap system? Leading edge yes, trailing edge no.

Flight Controls If the HDG is supplying electrical power, will the flaps and slats operate normally? No, hydraulic flow is mechanically reduced resulting in increased flap/slat operating time.

Moving the flap lever to 25 degrees. Alternate flaps, 20 degrees. Flight Controls When do the slats move from the takeoff to landing position during normal flap operation? Alternate flaps? Moving the flap lever to 25 degrees. Alternate flaps, 20 degrees.

Flight Controls What does the STAB trim light mean? The stabilizer is moving at half the normal rate.

Is there an altitude restriction if the yaw dampers are inoperative? Flight Controls Is there an altitude restriction if the yaw dampers are inoperative? No.

Flight Controls How is the rudder powered? By 3 hydraulic actuators, left, center, right.

Flight Controls How are the elevators powered? Three hydraulic actuators, left, center, right.

Flight Controls How is the elevator feel powered normally? By the right and center hydraulic systems.

How is the elevator feel powered with a loss of hydraulic power? Flight Controls How is the elevator feel powered with a loss of hydraulic power? It is spring powered

Flight Controls What are the three modes of stab trim controls? Electric trim, alternate trim, and auto pilot trim.

Flight Controls When is the control column electric trim switch inhibited? When 2 or more autopilots are engaged.

Flight Controls Will the alternate trim disengage the autopilot? No. It overrides all autopilots but does not cause a disengagement.

Flight Controls When the Alternate Slats are selected, the slats extend to the landing position when the Alternate Flaps selector is selected to ____degree position 20

The slats remain in the takeoff position with flaps in _____degrees Flight Controls The slats remain in the takeoff position with flaps in _____degrees 1,5,15 and 20

Flight Controls There are ____spoiler panels on each wing, but only ____ are used in flight to augment the ailerons for airplane roll control 6,5.

Flight Controls TRUE/FALSE: The 757 flight control has manual reversion as a backup to normal hydraulic power. FALSE

Flight Controls The Autoslats system causes the slats to automatically move from the_____position to the _____position when the stall warning system activates. Takeoff, landing
