Variety of Climates Facts to be taken into account: Spain is a big and varied country. Climate is different in the different regions. The South is very hot. The North is cold and wet. The Mediterranean Coast has warm winters and very hot summers. In The Plateau of Castille temperatures are extreme: very cold in winter and very hot in summer ( In Madrid in summer, temperatures can be as hot as 40 degrees centigrate).
