Social Determinants of Health In aged care, when we are supporting older people we see effects on health from: War experience Lack of health care when younger Lack of education and health literacy Social/economic disadvantage Social change – family, neighbourhoods

Family life

Trends Older people living longer and being more educated than previous generations Families less able/available to provide support With longer life comes increased capacity to contribute to home and community but also increased risk of Dementia and chronic disease

Community life
