15 Informal Care Informal care is usually carried out by people who are not paid to provide it such as friends, relatives or neighbours A lot of people who need support to live at home and have informal care to prevent staying in hospital or going into a care home. Support should be provided to informal carers in case they get ill or can no longer carry on the informal care they give. Informal carers provide information to professionals to help plan out future support or new care plans through regular meetings with Care Managers.

17 Person Centred Practice Person centred Care means putting the person who is using the service at the centre of everything you do in the care home. Person-centred care starts with the identity of the individual. It focuses on their personal history and strengths, their hopes and ambitions. A lot of people who need support live at home and have informal care to help with housework or laundry. Support should be provided to informal carers in case they get ill or can no longer carry on the informal care they give. Equality and inclusion within health and social care is vital to ensuring people’s differences are valued and that people are treated equally and supported to take part in whatever they wish to do

18 Equality and Inclusion We all have the right to be treated with dignity and respect. That’s why care workers, should promote equality and inclusion, respect diversity and avoid discrimination. A lot of people who need support live at home and have informal care to help with housework or laundry.
