VIDEO SOURCES Where do you get videos to embed to your website?

EMBED CODE IS THE KEY Anytime a website allows you to copy “embed code” you should be able to do put that video in your own school website. The trick is finding the embed code. I will show you this for both individual videos in various sites, as well as for playlists in YouTube created by you or by others.

WORKING WITH YOUTUBE PLAYLISTS... AND HOW TO EMBED THEM!

One of the things you should notice in this top embedded video is that it is a playlist, not a single video from YouTube. PLAYLISTS: MY WEBSITE EXAMPLE

CREATING A YOUTUBE PLAYLIST Assuming you have already set up a free YouTube account, you can create playlists of several shorter videos, and embed the entire playlist into your website.

CREATING A YOUTUBE PLAYLIST Step 1: Choose a video to add to a playlist.

CREATING A YOUTUBE PLAYLIST Step 2: Click the “Add to” button and type a New Playlist name and press “create playlist”.

CREATING A YOUTUBE PLAYLIST Step 3: The playlist you created will appear at the top of the lists.

EMBEDDING A PLAYLIST 1. Go to your channel and click on the “playlists” button on the left sidebar.

EMBEDDING A PLAYLIST 2. Click on the playlist you want to embed. 3. Click the “Share” button 4. Click the “Embed” button, and select the size video (640 X 360 recommended to fit our pages), then highlight and copy the embed code.

EMBEDDING A PLAYLIST 5. Go to the page you are editing on the website and press the embed video button that looks like the movie reel in the toolbar.

EMBEDDING A PLAYLIST 6. This box will come up and ask you to paste the embed code you just copied. Click “insert.”

EMBEDDING A PLAYLIST 7. The video will appear in your editing page. Click “Save”. Then test your webpage by viewing the site to make sure it appears.

AUDIO FILES MUSIC OR PODCASTS FOR STUDENTS

AUDIO FILES Using the file upload utility on our website management page, you can upload audio files that are provided with your textbook or that you create yourself. I have examples of both on this page. The “Chinese Dynasty Song” I created with my “I Am T Pain” app on my iPhone. The history rap songs below came with my textbook materials. You can also use your VOICE MEMO app on your smart phone to create podcasts or reviews. You can retrieve those files through iTunes and upload them to your website.

CREATING YOUR OWN AUDIO CONTENT IPHONE VOICE MEMO APP INSIDE THE APP: YOU CAN NAME THE ACTUAL FILES YOU CREATE, PULL THEM INTO ITUNES TO RETRIEVE THE FILES, AND UPLOAD THEM TO YOUR WEBSITE.
