Volume of Rectangular Prisms Objective: Learn to find the volume of a rectangular prism.

In a 3 dimensional figure… - a face is a flat surface. - the sides are called lateral faces. - The edges are the segments formed by the intersecting faces. - The edges intersect at the vertices. - 3D figures have length, width, and depth (or height).

Volume of a Rectangular Prism The volume of a three dimensional figure is the measure of the space occupied by it. It is measured in cubic units such as cubic centimeters (cm3) or cubic inches (in3 ). The Volume of a Rectangular Prism The volume V of a rectangular prism is the product of the length L, the width W and the height H. Formula: V = L × W × H

Example 1: V = l × w × h V = 7cm × 4cm × 10cm V = 280 cm3
