Before you read Where was it? When did you go there and why? Discuss these questions: Describe the best hotel you have been to. Where was it? When did you go there and why? What was special about it?

While you read What is Karen’s job? Read the article and the brochure on p43. Which questions from exercise 2 can you answer? With a partner, answer these questions: What is Karen’s job? Why does she take working holidays? What is her idea of a perfect holiday? Why does she spend her holidays at home? Animals are mentioned. Which ones, and why?

Answers She has her own travel agency. She helps people plan holidays. She needs to know where she’s sending people. A little bit of everything: lazing on the beach, reading, exploring new places, going around markets and food stores. Because she travels a lot, and she’s not home very often. Deer – sleeping bags in the Ice Hotel are made of deer skins. Camels – you can visit camel races in Dubai. In tanzania, you can see elephants, rhinos, lions, crocodiles, hippos, and rare birds.
