GCSE MATHS Proportion

Proportion What is it?  Proportion is the idea that things get bigger (or smaller) at the same rate.  WHAT?  What does this mean or where does it apply in real life?

Real life proportions  When going shopping you might see a packet of toilet rolls like this  A pack of toilet roll may be  9 rolls for £4  How much will 36 rolls be?  You use proportion to answer this question because the price for 9 toilet rolls will not change.

 We work out how much he gets paid for 1 hour.  Then we can use his hourly rate and find out 15 hours.
