 There are many different words which may be used with reference to the same person, each emphasizing a different relationship or function of that person, yet the words are not the same…

Example: A man: Son – relationship to his parents. Husband – relationship to his wife. Father – relationship to his children. Bread winner – he provides for his family. Teacher – relationship to his profession.

Example: A woman: Daughter – relationship to parents. Wife – relationship to husband. Mother – relationship to children. Homemaker – relationship to what she does. Secretary – relationship to her secular employment.

Example: The people of God: Kingdom – emphasizing the kind of government (monarchy not democracy). Matthew 16:18-19 Church – relationship to the world (called out). Ephesians 5:23 House of God – relationship to God (children). 1 Timothy 3:15 Body of Christ – relationship to Christ and to each other (organization). Ephesians 1:22-23; 1 Corinthians 12:12-14 Sheepfold – Relationship to the one shepherd (unity). John 10:9, 16 Vineyard – Place to work. (what we do). Matthew 21:23ff

 He promised to build the church and gave unto Peter the keys of the kingdom (Matthew 16:16-20)  When Peter used the keys of the kingdom he opened the entrance into the church. (Acts 2:38, 47) If the church and the kingdom are not the same, when did Peter use the keys of the kingdom?

 The Lord’s table was to be in the kingdom. (Luke 22:29-30)  Paul taught those in the church at Corinth how to eat the Lord’s supper. (1 Corinthians 11:23-30; cf. 1:2) If the church is not the kingdom, they had the Lord’s supper in the wrong place.

 All who are in the kingdom must be “born again.” (John 3:3-5)  Members of the church are all “born again.” (1 Peter 1:22-25) Therefore the kingdom and the church are the same.

The head.  Christ in the king of the kingdom (Acts 17:7; Revelation 1:5).  He is the head of the church. (Ephesians 1:22-23) There is no difference in leadership.

The subjects.  The subjects of the kingdom must be “born again” (John 3:3-5)  All in the church have been “born again.” (1 Peter 1:22-23) There is no difference in means of entrance.

The territory.  The territory for the kingdom is the hearts of men. (Luke 17:21; Romans 14:17)  The territory of the church is in the hearts of men. (Colossians 3:15; cf. Hebrews 8:10) There is no difference as to the territory of Christ’s rule.

The Church, and the Kingdom are the same. There is no difference in the head, the subjects, or the territory.

 Isaiah 2:2-4  In the “last days”  In the mountain of Jehovah…  a. Law to go forth from Jerusalem. cf. Luke 24:46-49  All nations would flow unto it  Swords, plowshares, nation no longer against nation.

Daniel 2 Description of Nebuchadnezzar's dream. 2:31-35 Interpretation of that dream. 2:36-45 NOTE: Daniel did not outline the entire history of the world from his day until the end of time. He is dealing with the kingdoms which would exist before the time God established His kingdom.

Medo-Persian kingdom fell in 330 BC Macedonian or Greek Empire. This kingdom was divided among the generals in 323 BC The Roman Empire. This empire began about BC by Octavius Caesar.

 Daniel 2:44 “In the days of these kings” – The Roman kings were in power.  Matthew 3:1; Matthew 4:17; Matthew 10:7 all say the kingdom is “at hand.” These prophecies made near 30, 31, 32 AD and were fulfilled on Pentecost 33 AD  Jesus had promised, “I will build my church”… On the first Pentecost following the resurrection of Christ, 3,000 were added to it.
