HISTORY OF CHRISTMAS IN NETHERLANDS Netherlands St. Nicholas [Santa]is known as Sinterklass. He dresses in traditional bishop’s robes [preferably red]and rides on a white horse. He also rides with Black Peter [elf]. December 5 th also known as St. Nicholas eve, they exchange presents on that day or as they like to call them surprises.
