Identify types of business letters.  There are two overall categories of business letters: business-to-business, and business- to-customer.  Business-to-business: The main purpose of a typical business letter is to formalize the details that were arrived at in those discussions, and to provide any additional information that was agreed upon.

 Business-to-customer: There are many different types of business-to-customer letters. They include: sales and marketing letters, information letters, order acknowledgement letters, order status letters, collection letters, among others.

 Describe the components of an effective business letter.  Depends on the type of letter being written: usually has a salutation, introduction, main topics in the body and summary or conclusion.  Includes facts and recommendations  Explain the guidelines for business-letter writing.  Writing for a business audience is usually quite different than writing in the humanities, social sciences, or other academic disciplines. Business writing strives to be crisp and succinct rather than evocative or creative; it stresses specificity and accuracy.  Write a business letter.
