WATER Water is one of the most vital substances on Earth. About 7 1 % of the earth’s surface is covered by water. Water in three states: liquid, solid (ice) and water vapor in the air. Water is an essential resource for life and good health. Human beings as well as Plants and animals need water.

WHAT TO DRINK We must always drink pure water. Unclean or dirty water harm our body, which cause many diseases like, dysentry, cholera etc. It would be better to have boiled fresh water. Cold drinks also cause trouble in our body mainly in digestive system.

CLEANLINESS Mixing of drainage/ gutter water with water pipe, makes water dirty. By having this water, people would fall sick, like diarrhoea, vomiting, etc. When we have diarrhoea and vomiting, we lose a lot of water from our body. We should drink more water add some salt and sugar at that time.

Boiled fresh water can prevent people from diseases. By adding alum, filtering water, using chlorine tablets, etc., can make water clean. Drinking water must be stored in clean and covered containers. The overhead water storage tank must be cleaned frequently.

Due to various human activities by washing, taking bath, cleaning the vessels and vehicles etc., at the drinking water places make the places dirty. People must keep the drinking water places neat and clean.

WATER SHORTAGE If people use too much water or waste too much water, there must be a water shortage. During a water shortage, less water is available to people than they need. Water scarcity is either the lack of enough water (quantity) or lack of access to safe water (quality).

Scarcity of drinking water affects the health of people. It also affects the animals and birds. An extended water shortage is called a drought; this has an adverse effect on crops, which can then turn into a food shortage. The problem of water scarcity is a growing one.

TOO MUCH WATER More water due to rain cause flood. It causes soil erosion. It damages the agriculture and property. Many people lose their homes It affects the transportation & communication.

WATER GAME In villages, people enjoy the water games in the river, lake etc. In cities, people use Water Theme Park for refreshment. People enjoy water sports like diving, sailing, rowing etc.

WATER SURVEY IN SCHOOL The students in the school can make ensure that : They are getting fresh drinking water. The water storage tank is neat and clean. There is no wastage of water. Proper maintenance of water lines. Proper cleanliness of toilet, etc.
