CANVAS PAINTING MADE EASY -Madhura P. Tipnis -Radhika Parathasarthy

Basic Materials needed  Canvas  Easel  Picture or Photograph  Pencil or charcoal  Palette  Various numbered paintbrushes  Basic color set of oil paints  Linseed oil  Turpentine

Pictures and their details  The database will hold an array of pictures which can be chosen to replicate.  Each picture will be broken down into stages such as primary sketches, first layer, second layer, etc.  Snapshots of the pictures in each stage will be stored for reference.  Each snapshot will have detailing as to the type of stroke, usage of paintbrush, etc.

Selecting the picture  Database of pictures painted before  Sorted as per  Level of difficulty  Size  Type (Landscape, Portrait, Abstract)  Artists  Countries  Choosing tips  Beginner  Intermediate  Advanced

Selecting the canvas  As per the chosen picture selection offered as  Canvas board : readymade cut in particular sizes  Stretch canvas : Customizable size using stretchers.  Recommended canvas size and type provided  Instructions for customizing the stretch canvas  Cut and stretch and staple  Apply mixture of acrylic gesso and water  Allow to dry

Set up  Instructions for adjusting the easel to most recommended height for few default height ranges  Check the angle of the easel  When using oil paints, the room should be well ventilated.  Start sketching as per the sketching in the figure  The sketches should be light and can be made using pencil or charcoal.

Paints, Brushes and Palettes  There would be sample pictures of strokes that could be created using particular paint brushes.  There would be video tutorials for the mastering a particular stroke for eg : waves on the sea.  Color mixing would be explained using small video clips showing relevance to the particular part of the painting.  The usage of Palette for color mixing would be thoroughly explained.
