Historical Painting Technique On a canvas board students will create: 4 different, equal-sized paintings that utilize the 4 different painting techniques from the Baroque, Impressionist, Favuist and Surrealist art movements. This piece will introduce you to acrylic painting as well as allowing you to expand their skill sets in regards to paint application, blending and color mixing.

Learning Intention: We will be learning to apply the painting techniques from 4 different artistic movements onto one finished canvas board. Success Criteria: We will know we are successful when we have: Completed paintings that represent Baroque, Impressionism, Favuism, and Surrealism. Each painting is exactly 12.4cm or 4 15/16th inches square Student has used the appropriate amount of materials for the project Student is prepared for class everyday with materials

Tips for working with acrylics Because acrylics dry so fast, squeeze only a little paint out of a tube at a time Keep a piece of paper towel or cloth next to your water jar and get into the habit of wiping your brushes on it every time you rise them. EVERY TIME. Because acrylics dry rapidly, you need to work fast if you wish to blend colors. Clean out your water pot frequently
