Southeast BIO: A Regional Biotech Organization Founded in 1999 as a volunteer organization Connect life science start-up companies with key players active in the region Large BOD with broad regional and sector diversity 13 VCs on the BOD, increases to 15 in 2011* Accuitive Medical Ventures, Aurora Funds, Canaan Partners*, Domain Associates, Georgia Venture Partners, Harbert Venture Partners, Hatteras Venture Partners, H.I.G. Ventures, Intersouth Partners, Lilly Ventures*, MB Venture Partners, NEA*, Pappas Ventures, Quaker BioVentures, Tall Oaks Capital Southeast BIO is a regional non-profit organization that fosters the growth of the life sciences industry in the Southeastern United States by promoting entrepreneurship and bringing together the key stakeholders active in the development of the industry.

Southeast BIO: MAIN/Stage Company Profile: Completed one or more investment rounds attributable to qualified venture capital firms Active, credible management team Advanced in the development cycle for their technology or product opportunity Program: Application period open during summer preceding conference Selected companies allotted 10 minutes to present to full conference audience Alternating company presentations with panel discussions featuring Southeast company success stories

Company Profile: No prior institutional funding (Seed or ‘A’ Round) Less developed management team; may be a scientific founder May or may not have license agreement(s) in place Program: Application period open during summer preceding conference 16 companies selected as semifinalists Semifinalists have option to participate in a web-based consultation session before the conference Onsite, semifinalists present their opportunity to an advisory panel during a 1 hour interactive, closed session 4 finalists present to the full conference audience at the EARLY/Stage Shootout Finalists are awarded private meetings with investors in the region Winner announced at the Investor Forum Southeast BIO: EARLY/Stage

SEBIO: IDEA/Stage Ideal Candidate: Unincorporated opportunity with start-up potential Supported by principals who: understand the technology and related IP can articulate the commercial opportunity are committed to taking the opportunity forward are willing to be mentored May have received some funding from typical pre- seed sources but no funding from institutional investors

SEBIO: IDEA/Stage Program: Application period open during spring preceding conference 10 semifinalists selected and paired with a mentoring team Mentoring lasts 4-6 months Goal is to develop the concept and write a development plan Development plan submitted for judging 4 finalists present their opportunity to the full conference audience Finalists are awarded private meetings with investors in the region Winner announced at the Investor Forum

SEBIO: Corporate Partnering Day Introduced to draw VCs/investors, particularly from outside the region BD executives from major biotech/medical device companies will present partnering needs 1-on-1 partnering meetings following presentations and throughout conference
