Presentation transcript:

Welcome!

Writing that expresses ideas and thoughts in an imaginative way. The writer gets to express feelings and emotions instead of just presenting the facts. * Examples: * Novels * Poems * Songs * Screenplays * Short Stories

* ALL academic writing! * Journalism * Expository writing * Textbooks * Technical Writing

* Please refer to syllabus

* Tests/Major Writing Assignments 40% * Presentations/Quizzes 25% * Homework 10% * Weekly Creative Journals 10% * Participation/Classwork 15%

* Every week you will be given a random creative writing prompt – you will have that school week to produce a one page written response to the prompt that will be due every Friday by 3:15! * The prompts are designed to be fun, and spark creativity, however, I do realize writer’s block happens, that’s why you have a week – it’s ok to just think!

* This course is designed as a writer’s workshop style course to maximize the opportunities I have being one person, to assist many of you. * The idea is to make the best use of classroom time, so you have less work to do on your own time (because you all have lives, right?)! * This is a major expectation and time spent in the classroom will factor into your overall assignment grade.
